About Mount Srd
This craggy mountaintop is capped with a large fortress, and a huge cross (both of which are visible from sea level), a Croatian war museum and a panoramic restaurant.
Once at the top you can enjoy some Qi Gong and Yoga in the most spectacular space, get some refreshments, and / or walk around the museum, learning about the history of Mount Srd and how it has long protected Dubrovnik from invaders. Most recently, in the 1990s, the mountain played a strategic part in the Croatian War of Independence (also known as the Homeland War) and the 8 month long Siege of Dubrovnik.
About The Walk
This really is the space to get some perpective, to enjoy being out in nature, and getting the reward of having worked hard to reach the top.
The hike is of moderate difficulty, but not too challenging. It takes about an hour and a half to reach the top at quite a slow, and steady pace, which is what we will adopt – mindful walking.
Nordic poles are also available to use, and there is also the option of taking the cable car down at an additional charge. For those with delicate knees, it is the downhill that is more challenging.
Water, hat, towel, extra t-shirt/ top to change into, sunscreen, additional necessary personal things including medications, money for refreshments and souvenirs etc, sporty/hiking shoes.
