So what’s it about?

The Liminal Space is the tie between what was and what comes next, the place, whether we are aware of it or not, transformation is taking place.

This space is not always comfortable, nor a linear process, but rather spirals of ups and downs, which requires patience and understanding, while we reorientate with the new normal.

By understanding “the liminal space“, and learning how to “hold space” for ourselves, we are better equipped to navigate the changes, and manage the uncertainty of the future.

Now more than ever, we need to give ourselves time, to surrender into the unknowing, and to start to find “the grace within the space”

If you consider the transformation of the caterpillar to the butterfly, the change is not overnight.

The caterpillar has to suffer silently in a cocoon in order to become a butterfly. Change is painful but worth it in the end.

The key is learning to “hold space” for ourselves, not forcing the process, nor being harsh on ourselves for how we are dealing with it. Instead, we give ourselves the time we need, we pause, and sit patiently whilst the new reality emerges.

Managing our time in the cocoon requires “surrendering to the “not knowing”, and accepting that we do not know what the future os going to look like, nor how long it is going to take for it to emerge.

It is the ultimate yogic challenge, how to sit with “what is“, it requires practice and patience, but this workshop is a great starting point as we allow the body to help us.

This workshop is the first in a new series from Gillie Sutherland, “The Body Knows….”.

Working with the body’s natural intelligence – a somatic approach – we learn to unlock the innate wisdom that we all hold within, the wisdom which holds the key to our healing.

This workshop is for all levels of experience and ability. All you need is a mat, some cushions and pillows and a blanket!

What The Workshop Will Entail:

  • We will begin with an Opening Meditation to set the intention for the workshop, and introduce the key learning outcomes
  • A Grounding Session using mindful, somatic movement will bring us into a heightened sense of awareness to tune into the body’s innate wisdom
  • We will discuss Self-Care – tuning into the body’s whispers, using self-compassion, self-soothing techniques and how to hold space for ourselves
  • A Releasing Session will help unlock the tension and fear we have trapped in our body
  • The Art of Surrender – we will end on a delicious Yin practice and Yoga Nidra to help consolidate what you have learned and leave feeling calmer and more able to cope with these challenging and uncertain times.
