Lighten Up Preparation Phase

This phase is just about laying the groundwork, getting what you need, and building awareness of where you are now. This phase will last 4-5 days.

I would recommend that you start with this webinar. This will give you an overview of the course and some of the key principles.

*You will need a pad and a pen for making notes as this helps you cement your learning, but there are also full notes below

NEXT STEPS

Here is everything you need for these next few days. You will need a couple of hours to go through it all, and my advice would be to set some time aside for this when you can focus, Remember it’s not enough just to sign up, you have to put in a little work, but it will be worth it!


You can do as much or as little as you please,but as a bare minimum, I’d suggest the following:


* Start keeping a diary.

Record what you’ve eaten, what activity you’ve done, and the next day reflect and rate the following for that previous day: Sleep, Hunger, Mood, Energy, Cravings


* Set up your Sacred Space

This is somewhere where you live that you can use as an area to do your practise. Let whoever else you live with know what you are doing. You just need to tell them “it’s something I’m doing for my wellbeing, it’s important to me, and I hope you will support me”. If it’s pets you live with, you will no doubt have their full support! 🙂


* Get Grounded

Get out into nature if you can. Let the only exercise you do be a long walk, and perhaps some gentle yoga. Here is a short 15 minute Grounding Yoga practice you can do, as and when you need it. 


* Choose a Mantra / Affirmation

This is to use in the morning whilst you are brushing your teeth. You may want to stick a post-it note on the mirror, or even write it in lipstick!

You can also link it to what you answered in your questionnaire as to what you wanted to get out of the course. Remind yourself of where you are going. Imagine it’s working already!

Here are some examples:

“I’m getting lighter and brighter every day!”

“I’m feeling great this morning!”

“Today is going to be a good day!”

“You’ve got this girl!””Every day I’m getting more vitality!”

“I’m OK just as I am”.


Your self-talk is really important throughout this. Just observe it over the next few days, and notice if you have any habits that are talking negatively to yourself or worrying about what could happen, or thinking it’s going to be too difficult. 


For now, just observe, and the rest will come…..
